Oh wow. It's been forever since I've uploaded any art. :/
So in my writer's class, we have to do 30 page ISUs of any sort. A lot of people I think are doing creative writing projects. One of my classmates is doing sort of a fractured fairytale. These two are the main characters from it. She requested that I draw them for her and I was happy to do so.
This is still actually a work in progress, and a lot of the details om her dress need to be added. I'm actually very proud of this picture so far. Usually I hate my art after a few days, but I've been working on this since... March. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it from people; and my classmate was so happy with the outcome.
Hopefully I'll have time to colour it, if I do I'll upload that as well. (:
I just love their expressions and body language! Her hair looks lovely too. The only thing I'd change is her hands; the fingers look a little too short to be natural. But overall it's really adorable.
lol! It's been a long time since I've posted anything, eh? xDD Thank you so much! Yah, the necklace was loosely referenced from a necklace off The Duchess. Very detailed indeed. (I didn't actually put a lot of effort into it, surprisingly. I kind of scribbled around to get the effect.
Youve got a lot of nice details here, and I like the fellows expression as well as the curly ringlets of the girl. For some CC there are several small points that Ive noticed. Ill go after the more noticeable first and end with the most minor.
The girls neck is just a smidgeon too long and just a hint too wide, and because it isnt shaded yet and does not have the shadow or rounding shapes her neck is looking a bit too stocky. On the drawing itself you can narrow it a bit and when/if you get shading give it more shape to prevent that. In Photoshop or your choice of program you could do those and also move the head down just a little as well. (I assume redrawing the head would be too much trouble) This one is highest on the list due to its noticeability, but also because after Ive had a look at your gallery I saw that it something you do fairly regularly when you draw people. Its something to keep in mind next time around
Her nose is also too close to her mouth. You could either shorten it or elongate her jaw and move her mouth down, this would also solve the issue of the slightly too long neck as well by the way.
Lydia has already mentioned the short fingers, but I do commend you on getting such an expressive pose for them.
As for the guy I think her jaw has a bit too many irregularities in it in left versus right. A face is never symmetrical, but this one is sticking out too much. I also suspect her left chin line that goes to his ear is doing it at a slightly too wide an angel, making his upper face too broad.
And at last Id just like to mention something Ive noticed. If you look the the guys jacket collar, the bit that stands up, the inner line goes right up to the top where it cuts into the outer line. If you had that inner line stop and curve inwards a bit before you cross the outline you get the effect that the fabric has its own depth and thickness. As it is it looks like a very, very thin collar.
And this is a somewhat similar issue that is reflected in both of these peoples ears. They are too thin looking. Im not too good with ears myself but if you instead of following the whole line of the inner ear bit take one line from the cheek side and curve it up to the upside, end it, then start a new one adjoining that first curve to complete the inside, you might add a bit more plumpness to the ears. Im not too sure how much sense that last bit made
Oh my goodness. Okay, first off I have to thank for you the time you put into that comment.
Thank you for pointing out what you did. I did notice her neck a bit, but as for the rest it hadn't really registered. I hadn't noticed that I draw a lot of my necks like that, however, so for sure I will keep that in mind from now on! Her mouth? I see it now as well as the non-symmetricalness of his face. It's funny how it always takes another person to see it first, eh? The smaller things, like the ears (I always have trouble with those. ) and the collar shouldn't be too much hassle to fix.
lol I think I understood the ear bit. xD I'll give it some experimentation for sure. Thank you again for the CC. It's very appreicated.
I love her hair! And I do agree with - her neck is a little too stocky. But I think everyone should have rather original ears - you know what I mean? Some have 'skinny ears' and some have fleshy ones that droop at the bottom. Some how ear lobes that are 'attached' and 'detached'.
Thanks! I fixed the neck some, I haven't posted the edited version up here yet. Yeah, I somewhat agree with you both, lol. I tried playing around with them but the angle is tricky!
